The Unimat 09-4x4/4S is the best machine in this category. It allows us to take tamping quality to the next level.
In the first 15 months, our Unimat 09-4x4/4S has already completed 475,000 tamping cycles.

Thanks to the rotation speed modulation of the tamping units and the machines’ continuous working action, we save up to 5 % on fuel in each case.

The rotation speed modulation of the tamping units demonstrably leads to a lower load on the entire tamping unit. There is less wear, particularly on the squeezing cylinders and all contact surfaces.

We are already looking forward to the first E³ machine for DB Bahnbau Gruppe. The collaboration with Plasser already impressed us during the manufacturing process. The machine’s highlights include an alternative drive system, the substantial reduction of emissions, a software security concept, and a concept to reduce LCC. This is how we are contributing to one of DB’s environmental protection goals: to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 50 % by 2030.

The new design is ergonomic and practical, which benefits the customer. Our operators are impressed with the operating concept and the logical arrangement of all elements on the machine.

For us at DB Bahnbau Gruppe there was no doubt that it had to be a continuous action machine. Its advantages make it stand out in day-to-day operation: universal application, high speeds also on plain track and low levels of stress for the staff. Within the first six months from its delivery the machine has tamped 104 turnouts.

Our latest investments, the GSM 09-3X and the USM 09-4x4/4S Y-Dynamic, are the machines with the lowest maintenance costs out of our entire fleet.

With the USM 09-4x4/4S Y-Dynamic, Plasser & Theurer managed to exceed customer expectations.

Our first machine has already carried out 1,958,800* tamping cycles within four years. The rotation speed modulation minimises the wear on the work units, which carried out 1.3 million tamping cycles before requiring an overhaul for the first time.

For more than half a century, Plasser & Theurer has been a part of the railway system and has contributed considerably towards the safety and reliability of railways throughout the world. In this time, the company has sold more than 17,700 machines and supplied them to 110 countries. The efficient and cost-effective all-rounders from Plasser & Theurer’s Unimat 09-4x4/4S series have been crucial to this success story.

Versatile application - international operation

All relevant work processes combined in one machine: The Unimat 09-4x4/4S closes the gap between compact machines and large universal tamping machines. It produces particularly durable, regulated and process-reliable tamping results during its entire life cycle - even when the ballast bed is in poor condition. Modular expandability gives you the opportunity to optimally adapt machines to any operational strategy or market requirement, using new features, such as the E³ drive system and the PlasserSmartTamping assistance system. Machine operators particularly appreciate one feature of the Unimat 09-4x4/4S: Regardless of possible expansions, the machine meets any requirement in plain track and in the turnouts, even when the radius is particularly tight.

The continuous working action reduces wear on the brakes, cardan shafts and gearboxes. At the same time, it increases the machine’s output. The rotation speed modulation makes it possible to penetrate old and hardened ballast beds more easily and extends the service life of the work units.
