Plasser InfraScan

Technology

Plasser InfraScan

Track infrastructure and adjacent structures must be inspected regularly to meet the high safety requirements of railway operations. Plasser InfraScan provides early detection of dangers (for example, infringements of the structure gauge caused by tree branches) and serves as a database for re-opening sections of track following renewal work on the superstructure or overhead contact line. Measuring can take place during regular train service and after renewal work.

The data recorded by the system can be used to analyse the structure gauge, ballast distribution, measurements of the track platform and contact wire positions as well as the distance to the adjacent track.

Added value

Plasser InfraScan

  • Quality
    • Consistently high measuring quality
    • Process reliability thanks to a high level of automation
  • Efficiency
    • Perform measuring runs without track possessions
    • Measuring during working travel – immediately checks the work performed
    • No need for post-processing in the back office
    • High measuring speed
  • Transparency
    • Generation of the database for re-opening following renewal work on the superstructure or overhead contact line
    • Work documented in the electronic DRP Data Recording Processor
    • Relevant measuring values combined with position information in a track geometry database
  • Safety
    • Reduce measuring staff
    • Detects dangers along the line early on (e.g. infringements of the structure gauge caused by tree branches)
    • Also for use under rough conditions
