The SmartALC guiding computer is at the heart of computer-aided track geometry production for tamping machines. The integration of the Spot Tamping method for spot fault repair and diverse new features add to its field of application. This allows for all forms of operation - from optimising spot fault repair to large BIM projects.
The correction of the track geometry is controlled from a tamping machine’s front cabin. New user interfaces for the operation of the SmartALC blend into the new front cabin ergonomically and increase the machine’s productivity. Many options, yet full control: The operator can select from four user profiles with different functions.
In addition to the two working methods for track geometry optimisation used internationally, a third method can be added upon request.
Depending on the desired machine model, two versions of the SmartALC are available: the SmartALC Touch with a 21.5-inch touch screen and the SmartALC Compact with a 15-inch screen, operated via the integrated trackpad keyboard module.
Guiding the tamping machine in accordance with the relative or the unknown track geometry: The tamping machine uses the fault reduction method. After a measuring run, the recorded versines are smoothened and the lifting and lining values are calculated. The SmartALC calculates a recommendation for the track’s superelevation. The calculated values are used as target values for the tamping process.
The absolute track geometry is used to guide the tamping machine: The track geometry, including the radii, transition curves, gradient changes and superelevations, is known. The deviation from the defined absolute position must be calculated prior to the work using surveying systems in combination with fixed-point measuring. The AbsoluteTrackGeometry module is an innovative expansion, adding absolute track geometry recording to the tamping machine.
The new Spot Tamping tool increases the output and working quality of turnout tamping machines and universal tamping machines. Moreover, this optional feature raises the operating comfort and enables the automatic localisation of spot faults.
Exchanging two components at a time already saves valuable time and costs. Yet, if you upgrade to the SmartALC automatic guiding computer and the DRP digital measurement recording system at the same time, you can save even more. We are now offering both devices as a bundle.
