Fit for the future of the railway

For the first time, the all-electric hybrid drive technology at this stage of development powers a tamping machine: the new Unimat 09-4x4/4S E³. Unique in the market, the vehicle and machine body housing the technical innovation stands out due to its industrial design. After extensive testing and approval runs in 2017, the new Unimat 09-4x4/4S E³ will be operated in the 2018 construction season for the first time.

The HTW 100 E³ hybrid motor tower car for work on the overhead line system travels electrically in working mode using the latest battery technology. This drive combination provides enormous benefits for works on the overhead line system in tunnels and urban areas. Noise and exhaust emissions are no longer an issue. This machine from the E³ series also offers the unique industrial design. Cabins with driving desks and control desks, working areas and crew facilities have been redesigned from scratch.

The ergonomic design of the E³ machines is an added value. However, the machines offer more: they are fit for digitisation. Plasser & Theurer is working hard on extensions, such as working assistants, networked applications for machine maintenance and much more. We aim to make the machine operation easier, increase transparency and create new interfaces to enhance the railway’s digital competence.
