The Unimat 09-4x4/4S E³ is already meeting the challenges of tomorrow today, from lower budgets for operating resources to stricter environmental protection requirements, increasing noise reduction measures, more stringent emission limits and construction works in tunnels and urban areas. All rotary motions are fully electrically powered (transfer travel and work travel, tamping units, etc.). Linear movements remain hydraulically powered. The machine’s lower fuel consumption reduces both time and costs for refuelling, which in turn increases machine availability. The electrically powered working and transfer modes cut the machine’s operational costs considerably.

Less is more. The hydraulic components of the Unimat 09 4x4/4S E³ have been significantly reduced. The machine is equipped with a hybrid drive system consisting of two components: an electric drive and a diesel engine, which in turn, powers a generator. The machine uses one of the two drive options to suit the external circumstances. Located directly on the axle drives, the electric motors are either supplied with electricity from the overhead line (AC operation) or powered by the diesel engine (DE operation). The machine drive can be operated in AC mode and DE mode without performance loss during transfer travel and working travel. During transfer travel, the machine is controlled from the front cabin or the rear cabin. It can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.
