A future-proof balance of ecology, economy, and technology
More powerful than ever before, reliable, and climate-friendly on plain-line track and turnouts: with the UnimatExpress E³ series, you are perfectly equipped for new market requirements. The continuous tamping technology offers various customization options. Many new features, such as Plasser TampingControl, Plasser TampingAssistant, or Plasser ReferencedTrackGeometry, are customizable for any operational strategy.
Turnout maintenance is a complex process. Turnouts differ greatly in design. This is why tamping machines need a great degree of variability to optimally adjust to the conditions at hand. For this reason, Plasser & Theurer offers tamping unit types which can be used flexibly. Their special design has been optimized for specific application scenarios. This allows you to react precisely to the requirements of your market.
The 2-in-1 tamping unit
Why combine two different tamping units? The first tamping unit segment adapts to the turnout and offers more mobility and flexibility. On plain-line track, however, performance is key: this is where both segments work together in 2X mode. The second tamping unit segment now features fewer moveable parts. This reduces the need for maintenance and minimizes life cycle costs.
Tamping with high performance and maximum flexibility
The 8x4 tamping unit is a whole new class in terms of universal tamping technology. As its name suggests, it features eight independent tamping unit segments with tilting tines. The continuous 2-sleeper UnimatExpress 8x4 tamping machine can switch to 1-sleeper tamping mode as required. Thanks to these features, your machine combines the high performance of 2-sleeper tamping with maximum flexibility.
The all-electric drive concept
The latest E³ technology offers an all-electric system that increases overall efficiency to approx. 83%. The energy is distributed directly to all relevant consumers. Electricity powers the on-board system, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning as well as all rotational movements. This also includes traction drive, work unit actuators, and electric propulsion of the satellite. Electric actuators enable performance increases thanks to increased repeatability, greater efficiency, and reduced maintenance costs. The hydraulic system continues to demonstrate its advantages in linear movements: efficient, robust, and with high power density. This combines the best of both worlds.

Series: Plasser UnimatExpress E³
The new Plasser UnimatExpress E³ series offers a wide range of options for tamping and stabilizing plain-line track and turnouts. A further development of the all-electric drive that is ready for series production utilizes the electricity from the overhead contact line. If necessary, two different traction current systems can serve as a source of energy.
