Monitor condition of sleepers

High-resolution cameras capture the sleepers, which are then analysed using artificial intelligence. This involves inspecting the sleepers for visible surface defects and categorizing them. Typical defects are cracks and flaking. This information can then be used to initiate appropriate measures. Thanks to the integrated lighting system, the measuring system can be used at any time of day and irrespective of the weather conditions.

Inspection of rail fastenings

Cameras capture the area of the rail foot and search for the rail fastenings at the height of the sleepers. The system recognizes various types of fastenings such as Pandrol fastenings, tension clamps, and screw fastenings to check if they are free of damage and fixed in place, making manual line inspections obsolete.

Dynamic evaluation of rail fastenings

To evaluate the quality of rail fastenings, a horizontal force is applied to push the rails apart. Optical measuring systems are used to measure and compare the track gauge before and after applying the horizontal force. Differences in the values measured provide information about the quality of the rail fastenings.
