System solutions

From individual machines to machine systems

Every laying or maintenance job on the railway track requires a range of work sequences which should be harmonised as efficiently as possible. The better the machine resources work together, the higher the achievable work output, work quality and ultimately also the cost-efficiency will be.

Machine systems made by Plasser & Theurer meet these requirements to a high degree. For every job on the track, Plasser & Theurer offers machine systems co-ordinated to each other in a variety of output categories for every sector of modern track maintenance.

They enable the uniform, simultaneous, homogeneous and complete execution of the operations, achieving optimum quality and cost-efficiency. By harmonising the machines to each other as regards work output, travelling speed and preparation time, mutual hindrances can be minimised. The uniform design simplifies spare parts stocks, service and training.

High transfer speed, short preparation times and of course the high work output of the Plasser & Theurer machines enable full utilisation of even the shortest track possessions. Every avoidance of hindrances to the rail services contributes substantially towards reducing the total costs of a worksite.

Renewal of the catenary used to be a time-consuming and expensive operation. Today, the Plasser & Theurer catenary renewal trains made it possible to reduce the construction time and therefore the track possessions by up to 80%.

Thorough cleaning of the ballast bed makes it possible not only to uphold the maintenance intervals but also to raise in the overall lifetime of the permanent way. High performance ballast cleaning machines such as the RM 900 RT with new ballast supply enable economical application producing high output and high quality results.
